Building better participation with national patient association
Our network of public participation is built on strong foundations of engagement and involvement in our GP practices.
We support, advise and develop GP practices and their patient participation groups (PPGs) in growing and engaging effectively with their community, including getting established and volunteer recruitment methods.
We are developing a toolkit for PPGs in developing their engagement activities, and we have signposted our patient volunteer network along with our GP practice members to the useful 'Building Better Participation' guide developed by the National Association for Patient Participation (NAPP) which can be viewed by clicking here.
In 2017/18 NAPP were commissioned by NHS England to provide support to CCGs and patient participation groups across our region.
The chief executive of NAPP led two workshops with our public volunteers, then met with our GP Practices practice managers. The presentation from those workshops can be downloaded by clicking here.
After those, NAPP then held other similar events in the East and Midlands and a report has been published detailing 14 recommendations to be considered as part of the review. You can download the report using the following links:
