Celebrating our volunteers
Volunteers who have been supporting health and social care organisations across east and north Hertfordshire were invited to a special celebration event on Wednesday night to celebrate their invaluable contribution.
Attendees on the night have helped NHS, voluntary and community organisations such as the CCG, GP Practices, Hertfordshire Healthwatch, Healthwalks along with Friends of Welwyn Care Homes and the New QEII over the course of the past year.
In addition to the chance to chat to old friends and colleagues over a mince pie or two, they were joined by Louise Smith from parkrun UK who gave an overview of the organisation and the introduction of Parkrun Practices. Parkrun Practices is an initiative which links parkruns (a 5k run or walk in outdoor spaces) with GP practices to encourage physical activity to support positive health and wellbeing.
The evening finished with Herts Musical Memories, who explained about the health benefits of singing, and got the audience singing some carols - complete with actions!
Mark Edwards, Public Engagement Manager at the CCG, acknowledged the vital contribution of volunteers play towards the NHS: “We can’t say thank you enough to our valuable volunteers, who provide an amazing level of time, dedication and contribution to our everyday work. Over the course of the past year we have begun to implement our involvement strategy and excited by the opportunities that 2019 will bring and look forward to them continuing to make a difference to our work going forwards.”
