Fete fun to raise awareness of health and services
Sunshine and smiles helped a local patient group spread the message about health and wellbeing matters at a recent event.
The Knebworth and Marymead Patient Participation Group (PPG) set up a fun and informative stall at the Woolmer Green fete on 2 June, which included cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) demos and talking with visitors about extended hours appointments and aortic aneurysm screening.
They also handed out health-related materials and promoted the new CCG-supported Cancel Out Cancer campaign, alongside a traditional Tombola and 'name the teddy'.
Group member Mandy Preedy said the stallholders talked to many people about the new Knebworth surgery, adding: "Thanks to everyone’s hard work, we didn’t have any expenses and the £100 profit can be used for patients and our wider community towards maintaining the public access defibrillators and wheelchairs at each surgery, hall hire and refreshments at our annual Help Yourself to Health event, and refreshments for our monthly coffee mornings."
You can meet the group at Oakland’s College family day on Sunday (9 June) at the Smallford campus in St Alban's between 11am-5pm. Help Yourself to Health is from 7pm (7.30pm start) on 24 July at Knebworth Village Hall, Park Lane, SG3 6PD with a range of speakers and the chance to meet practice staff.
