Learning in the library: helping the community with their health

A community event focusing on carers and dementia saw the CCG set up stall in Welwyn Garden City Central Library to raise awareness and promote health and wellbeing for local people.

Andy Holmes and Joy Hale from the Engagement Team and volunteer colleagues joined partner organisations at the Library on 3 July to provide information and have friendly chats about local dementia services and available support.

Activities included fun seated exercises set to music, using bean bags, balls and rhythm. Visitors could learn about the different types of dementia and how therapeutic music and rhythm can be.

Andy said: “It was very interesting to find out about all the great work going on in our community to support people with dementia and their carers, and get an idea of the range of activities on offer.”
